An Optimal Smoothing Factor for Reducing Musical Residual Noise in Speech Enhancement
نویسندگان
چکیده
An annoying musical residual noise is suffered in most speech enhancement systems. This paper applies a perceptual-based speech enhancement algorithm that considers masking properties to enhance speech signals corrupted by colored noise. Moreover, an optimal smoothing factor which is adapted by the variation of signal to spectral deviation ratio (SSDR) in successive frames is used to reduce the effect of musical residual noise. Improved results are obtained by considering both intra-frame masking properties and inter-frame spectrum smoothing to enhance a speech signal corrupted by various types of colored noise.

Post-Filter Optimization for Multichannel Automotive Speech Enhancement
In an automotive environment, quality of speech communication using a hands-free equipment is often deteriorated by interfering car noise. In order to preserve the speech signal without car noise, a multichannel speech enhancement system including a beamformer and a post-filter can be applied. Since employing a beamformer alone is insufficient to substantially reducing the level of car noise, a...
متن کاملWavelet-Based Speech Enhancement Using Time-Frequency Adaptation
Recommended by Satya Dharanipragada Wavelet denoising is commonly used for speech enhancement because of the simplicity of its implementation. However, the conventional methods generate the presence of musical residual noise while thresholding the background noise. The unvoiced components of speech are often eliminated from this method. In this paper, a novel algorithm of wavelet coefficient th...
متن کاملEnhanced spectral subtraction method for noise reduction with minimal speech distortion
In this paper, we propose a method for enhancing speech corrupted by broadband noise. The method is based on the spectral subtraction technique. Besides reducing the noise conventional spectral subtraction introduces an annoying residual musical noise. To eliminate the musical noise we propose to introduce reduced varying scaling factor of spectral subtraction, with a following application of w...
متن کاملAn optimal speech enhancement under speech uncertainty probability and masking property of auditory system
Recently, I.Cohen has presented causal and noncausal algorithms to modify the classic decision-directed approach for prior SNR. It is well-known that prior SNR is critical to trade off the musical noise level and the audible clearness level in spectral subtraction speech enhancement. However, all these algorithms conflict with statistical signal model more or less. To adjust smoothing parameter...
